26. Racing towards D-Day!

Is the Oak Apple Day celebrated in the UK, International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, Republic Day of Nepal, Democracy Day of Nigeria and the Statehood Day of Rhode Island in the United States.

It is also a very important day in the calendar, because on that day several history events occurred. Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay are the first people to reach the Everest. Equador becomes independent. Charles II was restored to the English throne. Peter II becomes Tsar of Russia. Emperor Franz Joseph was crowned King of Hungary. The Present Constitution of Switzerland takes effect. The first steam powered vehicle chugs along. The US Presidential Flag is adopted. Einstein’s theory of general relativity was tested. Bing Crosby records “White Christmas”, the greatest selling record to date. A single engine plane flew over the North Pole. Charles de Gaulle forms the French Government. Boris Yeltsin was elected President by the Russian people! And, President John F Kennedy was born that day!

These are historical events that have already happened. In 2010, an important event is about to take place!
